About us

At Rooted in Growth Counselling Services, we understand that every individual is unique, and that healing and growth come from a place of understanding, connection and trust.

Nurturing growth from the roots up

We are dedicated to creating a space where families feel safe, seen, and supported in their healing journey.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Our therapy is client-centred and tailored to each individual’s needs. We help clients build coping skills, self-awareness, and stronger relationships, while fostering their sense of worth and courage. Healing doesn’t stop in the therapy room. By partnering with parents and encouraging empathetic communication, we create a ripple effect that transforms everyday family life.

WHAT WE DO

At the heart of our approach is the integration of play therapy, art therapy, creative expression, and a holistic focus utilizing the family system. Whether it is through individual sessions for children, adolescents, family therapy, or parental support, our goal is always the same: to create a space where families feel safe, seen, and supported in their healing journey.

Helping clients deepen their connection with themselves and others while cultivating resilience and well-being.

Counsellor, B.Ed, MC, CCC (she, her)

A counsellor and Play Therapy Practitioner, and a professional member working towards becoming a certified Play Therapist with the Canadian Association for Play Therapy (CAPT). A member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).

I’m Cora-Lee McKean, a counsellor with the Northwest School Division and the founder of Rooted in Growth. I am also the founder of Connecting Parents Supporting Families, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting parents.

I am a mother of four grown children and a former teacher of students from Kindergarten through Grade 9. I am deeply intrigued by the stages and changes children experience throughout their development. I am passionate about supporting their emotional and social well-being along the way.

I embrace family systems therapy and hope that everyone has the opportunity to find peace, joy, and connection throughout their journey.

My faith, family, and friends ground me, while creativity, travel, music, and wellness bring balance to my life. I have a special passion for supporting those living with ADHD and those healing from trauma, helping them find their own path toward growth and resilience.

Rooted in Growth was inspired by the big tree that stood in front of Cora-Lee’s grandmother’s house—a place of connection, safety, and the freedom to grow. That tree symbolizes the foundation of our counselling approach: creating a grounded and supportive space where development can take root.

At Rooted in Growth, we believe that with understanding, connection, and care, children and families can strengthen their roots and flourish.
